The Chicago Comedy TV Pilot Competition

To be held concurrently with the Chicago Short Comedy Video and Film Festival in July of 2008, in partnership with the Chicago Film Office.

A juried event designed to showcase the impressive comedy TV pilots being made in Chicago, and to provide TV executives with a look at top-notch pilot material.

Rules for entering:

Your pilot must be:

  1. A Chicago product. That is, the filmmaker who owns the copyright to the film must have been a Chicago resident at the time the pilot was made, or alternatively, the pilot must have been created by a Chicago-based production company, which owns the copyright.
  2. Comedy.
  3. 20 to 30 minutes in length
  4. Scripted – no reality, improv, or interview pilots will be considered. Also, it must feature a situation and characters that could continue beyond the pilot – i.e., it must be a sitcom, rather than sketch comedy format.
  5. Based on original ideas, not adaptations or parodies. Also, it must not have had a commercial or broadcast distribution.

Deadline for submission of VHS or DVD review copies of the pilots is: March 7, 2008
